Featured Homes: Leading Residences of the World in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
| Written by Halogen Guides Staff 05/16/2006 |
Still nursing our sea urchin stings, we hop the pond to the south of France for a tour of Leading Residences of the World’s Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat retreat. Jet-setters may be familiar with the Leading Hotels of the World brand and it’s that level of elegance and hospitality that their partner destination club aims to deliver. And their Leading Quality Assurance team takes that mission to heart, annually inspecting “1,250 components of the guest experience.” Here’s hoping that list grows to 1,251 so we can finally plug in our iPods.
The Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat residence is part of the Hotel Royal Riviera resort, perched atop the Cap-Ferrat peninsula between Monte Carlo and Nice. In addition to the arresting views of these Mediterranean ports, members enjoy easy access to their offerings as each city is but a 15-minute drive away. Interestingly enough, the hotel was conceived as a timeshare for the British aristocracy. Whether you’re of noble blood or not, Leading Residences will welcome you into the fold for their $325,000 membership deposit.

When they’re not touring the French Riviera or at the baccarat table with Formula One drivers, members may stroll the grounds’ multiple gardens or the private beach. In the suite you’ll find 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with marble showers and oversized bathtubs.

Leading Residences of the World is aggressively pursuing an international focus. More than half of their current destinations are outside of the United States and they have no plans to cap the number of residences. As in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, their current international locations tend to be smaller, 2 bedroom residences. While this might not appeal to large families or those hoping to travel in groups, the logistics of an overseas trip might already be too great a hurdle. For retirees or empty-nesters who have done their share of family vacations, the club’s growing European portfolio could hold great appeal.
