Which club will Lance join?

We know he flies Flexjet now (link to video), so it’s just a matter of time before Lance is pitching a destination club. Private Escapes already has Steve Young as a celebrity spokesperson and Exclusive Resorts has a partnership with the rest of the NFL. Maybe Lance will favor Solstice, which has seven homes to match his seven yellow jerseys.

American Century Investments recently launched a line of mutual funds called the Livestrong Funds, which contributes to Lance’s foundation. Perhaps they’ll help him buy into a REIT like Crescendo, based on the hints in BusinessWeek’s blog last month:

“Incidentally, [fund manager Jeffrey] Tyler is very interested in adding real estate as well as commodities to the portfolio mix in the future.” Real estate is a good diversifier. It doesn’t look like stocks. It doesn’t look like bonds,” he says.

The most obvious fit is Yellowstone Club World, which could adopt the ubiquitous yellow band as a limited edtion ID bracelet (the 24-karat gold version, of course). But given Greg LeMond’s recent lawsuit against Tim Blixseth, it might be a while before another Tour de France winner is invited into the exclusive club. Judging by Blixseth’s and Armstrong’s similar climbs to glory (bankrupt to billionaire and cancer survivor to cyclist extraordinaire), we think Lance would be the one to claim the title.
