Virgin Galactic expects to launch its first flight within the next 5 years, charging wealthy explorers $200,000 for an 87-mile high flight into outer space.

By 2011, the company expects to offer five minutes of weightlessness in the VSS (Virgin SpaceShip) Enterprise, a craft modeled after the X-Prize winning SpaceShipOne.

With billionaires Paul G. Allen and Richard Branson backing Virgin Galactic, we expect the $200 million facility in New Mexico will someday become more popular than Area 51.
