Cost Per Night ChartEvery week, we receive several requests from readers for our “Cost-per-Night” model which we built in Excel. The proprietary tool helps prospective members compare the cost of destination clubs to other luxury travel alternatives such as five-star hotels or villa rentals.

While you can still download a copy from us, Helium Report is proud to announce our first “widget” – an online version of our “Cost-per-night” calculator. Now you can enter your own assumptions directly in the tool below to determine the nightly rate for any club you’re considering.

You can enter any value for Membership Deposit, Annual Dues, or Nightly Fees. The Refundable portion can be set to 80%, 90%, or 100%. We included a broad range of choices for Years as Member, from 1 to 30. Days of Usage varies from 14 to 45. Note that most clubs offer 30-45 days of usage, but it’s best to select the option that most closely resembles your expected travel patterns.

The model also factors in the opportunity cost of the membership deposit, assuming a 5.0% to 10.0% rate. In other words, it’s the potential interest you could have earned by investing the deposit over the same time horizon as the years of membership.

For a more detailed explanation of our methodology, click here to read our August 1 post. The complete analysis is one of many charts included in our Decision Guide to Destination Clubs.

We pre-loaded the fees for Exclusive Resorts since the 2,400+ member club dominates the industry. Feel free to enter your own figures and see how other clubs compare to the cost of renting hotel rooms or vacation homes.
