• Profile of the new 1800 Coleccion tequila of which 200 bottles will be produced at $1800 per bottle.
• Story about some mysterious rich dude, nicknamed Mr.47, who is auctioning part of his wine cellar for somewhere between $10 and $15 million. Lots of rare wine. Acker Merral & Condit are handling the auction.
• Lame story about the third re-incarnation about Le Cirque in New York. No review of the food, so use this review instead.
• Profiles of Avo Cigars, fancy watchmaker Jean-Mariet & Gillman and yacht builder Trinity Yachts, that had to recover from Hurricane Katrina.
• Cool profile of a Formula One racing school called AGS Formule 1, in the south of France. It is advised to eat a light lunch before getting behind the wheel.
• Other random reviews of body scanners, jewelry that screams “I am rich”, Inuit (Canadian eskimos) art, collector guitars and super high-end refrigerators.
• Big feature story, called Private Preview 2007 – a photo rich catalog of the “most anticipated luxuries for the coming year”. Includes reviews of the Tesla Roadster, Cunard’s new Queen Victoria, the Jaguar XKR, some silly submarine, an Audemars Piguet watch that costs more than a quarter mill, a new resort in the Turks and Caicos and other expensive stuff.
• A long, rather boring story about the production of German Riesling, with a focus on Trockenbeerenausleses wines. How do you order one of those at a restaurant?
• Interesting feature on the development of high-end golf courses in Vietnam. More here.
• Beautiful photo story of the home of Henry Segerstrom, a very successful real estate developer, who has filled his home with modern art.
• Explanation of what the AMG division of Mercedes-Benz does: boosts the performance of about 20,000 of the 1.1 million Benzes made each year, for a 30-40% premium over MSRP.
