| Written by Halogen Guides Staff 02/28/2007 |
Big Apple car enthusiasts now have a new option in exotic car clubs – Classic Car Club of Manhattan’s Carbon Fiber Collection. This new offering gives members access to a wide variety of modern exotic cars including:
- Aston Martin DB9
- Ford GT
- Lamborghini Gallardo
- Porsche GT3
- Ferrari F430
- Rolls Royce Phantom
- Bentley GT Continental
- Aston Martin V8 (photo, right)
- Audi R8
- Maserati Quattroporte
- Lamborghini Murciélago
- Spyker C8
- Porsche Carrera GT
- Bentley Arnage
- Porsche 997 Turbo
- Ferrari 599 GTB

Membership
There is a $2,000 joiner fee (plus taxes) and membership costs $24,375 annually. Members then receive 750 Carbon Fiber Collection Points redeemable for up to 30 days in the Carbon Fiber Collection Fleet plus 350 Classic Car Club Points redeemable for up to 20 days in the Classic Car Club Fleet. You can buy more points (250 points for $6750 plus tax) or you can renew your membership early if you run out of points.
- Your mileage allowance is 100 miles per day during the week and 300 miles over a weekend (Friday thru Monday)
- Excess mileage is calculated diffently for each car with the average cost at $2/mile over the standard mileage allowance.
The Carbon Fiber Collection will be capped at 150 members with a fleet of 18 cars. A waiting list will then apply to new applicants. Cas can be delivered free in Manhattan, and for a nominal fee outside of city. Also the Classic Car Club is the only US club to provide member insurance. Carbon Fiber Collection members are covered for collision damage and liability insurance with a $7,500 deductible.
Compare the Clubs
Top notch location, great fleet of cars, and some solid member benefits like exclusivity and insurance. But what about price? Club Sportiva, which will soon open a NYC branch, has annual fees of $3,500 to $11,500 per year for their Enthusiast level membership. Their Elite membership starts at $18,000 for access to similar cars like the Lamborghini Murciélago (photo, right).
Even so, Carbon Fiber Collection fees seem steep compared to other Classic Car Club of Manhattan memberships – a one-time Initiation fee of $1,500, a Silver Membership of $7,000 with 750 points, a Gold Membership of $10,500 with 1,500 points, or a Lifetime Membership of $55,000 and 1,500 points. Maybe it comes down to driving modern exotics versus classic, though some folks will tell you a 1965 AC Shelby Cobra beats a new Aston Martin DB9 Ford GT any day of the week.
If you have experience with the Classic Car Club of Manhattan or the Carbon Collection, write a review.
