We have been trying to get our hands on a copy of the new Conde Nast business magazine, Portfolio, but it was sold out today at the airport. Apart from admiring their courage to launch a new business print magazine when others seem to be slimming down faster than Dan Marino on NutriSystem, we will read it before commenting. But we have spent some time on their new companion website, Portfolio.com, and we think it’s off to a good start.
For about a week old, the site feels less like a beta and more like a well-built mega-blog with lots of original content. It also has signed on some great contributors like Kevin Maney, who used to write the tech column for USA Today and Joe Brancatelli, who writes a well-respected road-warrior newsletter. We will check-in regularly, particularly with their lifestyle content to see what might be of interest to our readers.
Oh, there is another reason we like Portfolio – they quote us in one of their online articles about fractional car clubs (“Drive Like a Million Bucks” by Kristina Shevory). Well, actually they quote Jamie Cheng, our lead analyst and one of the founders of Helium Report. And for good reason. For over a year now, Jamie has been analyzing these fractional programs and helping consumers figure out these new, but in some cases, untested consumer services. Jamie can be reached at helium@heliumreport.com if you have a question you need answered or if want to contribute what you know to our site.
